Introduction to libunistring

libunistring is a library that provides functions for manipulating Unicode strings and for manipulating C strings according to the Unicode standard.

Installation of libunistring

First, make a fix required by glibc-2.43 and later:

sed -r '/_GL_EXTERN_C/s/w?memchr|bsearch/(&)/' \
    -i $(find -name \*.in.h)

Install libunistring by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr    \
            --disable-static \
            --docdir=/usr/share/doc/libunistring-1.4.1 &&
make

To test the results, issue: make check.

Now, as the root user:

make install

--disable-static: This switch prevents installation of static versions of the libraries.
