Introduction to libgcrypt

The libgcrypt package contains a general purpose crypto library based on the code used in GnuPG. The library provides a high level interface to cryptographic building blocks using an extendable and flexible API.

This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-10.1 platform.

User Notes:

Installation of libgcrypt

Install libgcrypt by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make                      &&

make -C doc html                                                       &&
makeinfo --html --no-split -o doc/gcrypt_nochunks.html doc/gcrypt.texi &&
makeinfo --plaintext       -o doc/gcrypt.txt           doc/gcrypt.texi

The above commands build the documentation in html and plaintext formats. If you wish to build alternate formats of the documentation, you need texlive-20200406 (or install-tl-unx). Issue the following command:

make -C doc pdf ps

To test the results, issue: make check.

Now, as the root user:

make install &&
install -v -dm755   /usr/share/doc/libgcrypt-1.9.2 &&

If you built alternate formats of the documentation, install them by issuing the following command as the root user:

install -v -m644 doc/gcrypt.{pdf,ps,dvi} \

Command Explanations

--with-capabilities: This option enables libcap2 support. Note that this breaks cryptsetup-2.3.4
