Computer Repair, Inc. -
System
Repair and Services: Troubleshoot and
repair end-user systems while retaining user data as a principle objective,
including some component level repair of hardware. Perform Data Recovery
operations using data recovery software offerings and Linux system utilities. Systems
typically include an estimated 80% of MS Windows systems, and 15% being Linux,
5% being other (Mac, Sun, MS-DOS and others).
Network
Integration and Deployment: In this
capacity I develop and/or deploy and/or maintain systems utilized as
Point-of-Sale Systems and Network Based Accounting Applications. Last systems I installed and currently
maintain is a Club Systems, Inc. club management system which handles menu
generation, order handling, kitchen management, staff management, and bookkeeping
of Sarasota Yacht Club's member services. I also maintain all the Automobile
Dealership and Service Centers in the Area being a local resource for Microserv
Technology Services, servicing most Bell & Howell, Sun Solaris based
installations in the Greater Tampa to Ft. Myers Areas. Bell & Howell
authors and distributes auto industry specific inventory management systems
designed for enterprise wide deployments.

Linux From Scratch – Open
Source Project
Linux From Scratch is an Open Source project that
endeavors to increase the base of knowledgeable open source users and further
the development of custom and application specific Linux operating systems.
Linux From Scratch isn't a distributed system, such as RedHat or Sun Solaris,
but is a living book outlining the basic procedures to develop your own Linux
system custom tailored to a user's/administrator's needs. Linux From Scratch
has a huge user base of an estimated 100,000 or more users, a contributor base
counting in the 100s and 18 website mirrors across the globe. The project has
served as the platform from which many other “from source” distributions, such
as Gentoo Linux and Sorcerer Linux, were inspired and launched their own forms
of system development.
I am 1 of 4 founders and core members of the
development and administration teams. My shared responsibilities within the
organization include general system administration of the project's root
servers. My primary responsibilities include Project Management, Technical
Relationship Development, and Administration and Management of the INN Usenet
server and GNU Mailman mailing lists (which are the core media of project
development and user/admin support). Secondary responsibilities include System
Development and Testing, Instruction Book Authoring and Editing, and Package
Management Development.
Although we are currently a volunteer organization, we
do have the long term goal of gainful incorporation.
