Hello,
after few months of intensive ReLinks development I decided to trash
the whole REAL-SHIT and instead go back to our lovely ELinks movement
;-). So you probably got out of shape of reading ELinks release
announcements; well, you have to get used again, I fear.
0.9 is in maintenance mode now, we decided that it will be better to
just spawn 0.10 as yet another branch, the branching would get all too
messy otherwise and it will be cleaner this way. Also the changes are
rather significant - in 0.10 you will be free from the feature.h tiranny
again, there're big internal changes, cursor routing support, CSS
support, -remote support etc. You will see in 0.10pre1 which I am going
to release quite soon.
So, 0.9.2rc1 is a bugfix release. It does not claim to fix all the
known bugs because along the process we surely forgot to backport some
bugfixes, please tell us about any problems you will meet.
Regarding various important things we are going to focus on or already
focusing on, you can always see the proposed-and-ever-evolving 1.0.0
roadmap at http://pasky.or.cz/~pasky/dev/elinks/roadmap-1.0. I still
hope we will be soon there ;-).
The main changes in ELinks-0.9.2rc1 are:
* Fix a hole in the anonymous mode, preventing the user to launch the
external editor
* Support for the 'unset' command, necessary to get rid of some of the
default settings (ie. default protocol handlers; also very useful for a
secure anonymous setup)
* '-' at the start of an external command parameter is not considered
safe anymore
* protocol.http.referer.policy is now by default 1, not 3 - 1 is the
correct RFC compliant behaviour, instead of 3 which should stay the choice
for paranoid privacy-aware people
* Fixed a crash on MacOS/X
* Avoid crash when saving XBEL bookmarks with encoding != UTF-8
* Fixed a download manager race condition
* Fixed plenty of securesave race conditions
* Fixed yet another external editor slave/master conflict race
condition
* Fixed incorrect Accept-Charset for protocol.http.bugs.accept_charset = 0
* HTTP auth now works with either username or password empty; good news
for the Linksys router users
* Fixed misbehaviour of
inside of

* Fixed // joining
* Fixed compilation with new GNUTLS libraries
* Fixed feature.h ignored in certain files
Please see ChangeLog for full list of changes and credits (together with
AUTHORS).
The ELinks itself can be found at http://elinks.or.cz/.
I'm skipping the commit statistics because it looks it's only me who
bothers backporting stuff to rc (with few pleasant exceptions this
time), and therefore a lot of the fixes are someone else's anyway.
PS: Again, you're welcomed to join #elinks at irc.freenode.net, if you
want to see ELinks developers alive! :) (If you come at the right time
of day.)
PPS: If you don't know yet, we've got a Bugzilla at
http://bugzilla.elinks.or.cz/.
Happy betatesting and stuff,
