You're asking on the wrong list - BLFS is for the packages which
come after the basic system (server apps, or desktop). For the
moment, LFS itself is resolutely x86 and 32-bit-only.
I hesitate to point you to cross-lfs.org because you seem to be
deliberately ignoring them, but grub is covered in the clfs multilib
x86_64 book, and the pure64 version (x86_64-64, otherwise known as
amd64 in some circles) uses lilo because grub needs 32-bit libraries.
